UFC 310, scheduled for Dec. 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, will close out the 2024 UFC pay-per-view calendar. The event, initially seen as catering to hardcore fans, received significant changes after UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad pulled out of the card due to a bone infection.
Belal, on a recent episode of Remember The Show podcast said:
“The doctor even said it, he’s like, ‘Bro I’ve never seen this heal this quickly. So for something like that to heal this quickly, you’re on point.’ The doctor was like, ‘I’m usually working with people with cancer and diabetes. Once you get a bone infection, we’re snipping it off right away. There’s no ifs, ands or buts.’ To see the healing process now, it’s like, ‘Alright, it can heal like this.’ If you’re healthy, if you’re active and you take care of your body outside of [fighting]. It’s healed, it’s treatable.”
Muhammad’s withdrawal reshaped the event, pushing UFC flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja’s bout against former Rizin champion Kai Asakura into the main event slot.
Pantoja, known for his exciting style, will defend his flyweight title against Asakura, who makes his UFC debut with significant hype as a former Rizin titleholder.
In the co-main event, Shavkat Rakhmonov, who was originally set to challenge Muhammad, will now face Ian Machado Garry. Both fighters bring thrilling styles to the octagon, making this matchup a must-watch.
The domino effect of Muhammad’s injury also reached UFC Fight Night in Tampa, Florida, on Dec. 14. Joaquin Buckley, originally set to fight Garry, has been reassigned to face Colby Covington.
Fans in Tampa can also look forward to appearances by Amanda Ribas, Mackenzie Dern, Cub Swanson, Billy Quarantillo, Adrian Yanez, and Michael Johnson.
